Degree/Program: MSc in Agriculture, Major in Agronomy
Scholarship: Affiliate MS Scholars - Green Super Rice Project
Field of study: Nitrogen use efficiency of Green Super Rice varieties under Alternate Wetting and Drying conditions (Agronomy)
Born and raised in Paranaque City, my life has changed dramatically ever since I have been immersed in the field of agriculture. Now residing in Magalang, Pampanga where I graduated from Pampanga Agricultural College (now Pampanga Agricultural State University) with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Major in Horticulture), I am currently taking up my MSc degree in Agriculture, Major in Agronomy. I am also conducting my thesis with the support of the IRRI Green Super Rice Project.
Aside from being a researcher, I am also a farmer as I attend to my vegetable garden during my free time. I have planted hot peppers, tomatoes, and eggplants, among others. I am also a musician, serving the Music Ministry of our church as a bassist and a keyboardist. I am also an aspiring graphic designer, as I design shirts and posters for various causes.
I believe that the best way to live one’s life is to serve one another. In doing this, one’s life will create a ripple of hope and will be a life well lived.
IRRI’s assistance has been a great help to me and my career. It is a great privilege to be connected with an international institution that exists to serve the world by reducing poverty and hunger, improving the health of rice farmers and consumers, and ensure environmental sustainability of rice farming. To be able to contribute and be a part of something bigger has been the source of my motivation in finishing my research.
Also, being a newbie to rice prior to my connection with IRRI, I have learned a lot about rice farming and technologies with IRRI’s help. I have enjoyed my participation to the “Basics of Rice Production Course” dated October 2014 which was sponsored by my IRRI adviser. I am very thankful that through IRRI, I have been given the opportunity to learn from the world’s best rice scientists and researchers. This experience is something that I treasure and will always be proud of.
