Achim Dobermann, Deputy Director General for Research, leads priority-setting in research and applying scientific approaches to increase productivity and sustainability of rice-based systems. He directs IRRI’s multidisciplinary research programs and discipline-oriented divisions and enhances ties with partners in rice research. These partners include national agricultural research and extension systems (NARES), advanced agricultural research institutes (ARIs), nongovernment organizations (NGOs), and the private sector. He also oversees the preparation of project proposals for special funding and is in charge of enhancing IRRI’s relationship with its investor community, in coordination with the Donor Relations and Projects Coordination (DRPC).
