About

Melanie’s research background focuses on understanding behavioral change specifically risk perception and communication by investigating the public perception of environmental and nutritional issues. Melanie is also studying behavior change models and the development and evaluation of intervention materials.

She has been working with IRRI since 2017 as a Post-doctoral Fellow under the program Closing Rice Yield Gaps in Asia (CORIGAP). In 2022, she continued her work in the institute as a Scientist specializing in behavioral change, expanding her work in multiple countries from Asia to Africa. This is exemplified in her research publications which revolved around different South and Southeast Asian communities’ perception and understanding of sustainable farming and their adaptation to various technologies.

Melanie Connor holds a PhD from ETH Zurich Switzerland and obtained her Diploma (Master) of Biology in Humboldt University of Berlin. Currently, she is also working as an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh, Royal School of Veterinary Studies.
