Fayezul Choudhury is a distinguished figure in international finance and governance, renowned for his extensive leadership at the intersection of public accounting, management consulting, and global financial institutions.
With a career spanning over three decades, Choudhury most notably served as the CEO of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), where he steered global initiatives to enhance transparency, accountability, and ethical standards in the accounting profession. Prior to his tenure at IFAC, Choudhury held pivotal roles at the World Bank for 25 years. His positions included Vice President of Corporate Finance and Risk Management, overseeing strategic financial operations across the institution, and Controller and Vice President of Strategic Resource Management, where he played a crucial role in shaping resource allocation strategies.
Before joining the World Bank, Choudhury began his career at Price Waterhouse in London, where he gained invaluable experience in public accounting and management consulting, honing his expertise in financial advisory services.
Throughout his career, Choudhury has been a key contributor to international governance bodies and standards-setting organizations. He was a member of the Public Interest Oversight Board (PIOB) from its inception in 2005 until 2010, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the public interest in the oversight of audit and assurance standard-setting. Additionally, he chaired the Global Steering Committee of the International Forum for Accountability Development, a platform driving global dialogue on governance and accountability issues. Choudhury's contributions extended to the Standards Advisory Council of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), where he provided insights and guidance on international financial reporting standards.
