Scientist - Agronomist / Adaptive Research Specialist (IRS-2012-02-GS)
To conduct adaptive and farmer-participatory research on cropping options to increase and sustain productivity of both rice-rice and rice-pulse cropping systems in the Ayeyarwady Delta in Myanmar. The position will be located in Myanmar and the project will focus on research into different cropping, harvest, and postharvest practices through farmer participatory adaptive research. The research will contribute to Program 3 of the Global Rice Science Partnership (GRiSP): “Ecological and sustainable management of rice-based production systems”. The position will collaborate with a team of crop production specialists, plant breeders, pest managers (mainly rodents and weeds), and postharvest specialists.

Senior Scientist, Agricultural Development Specialist & IRRI Representative for Myanmar
Rice is the most important agricultural commodity in Myanmar and large potentials exist for increasing its production, thereby contributing to food security, alleviation of poverty, and creation of export opportunities. IRRI is expanding its activities in Myanmar and is looking for an agricultural development specialist to be its official country representative and to provide strategic leadership and effective management of research and development activities aimed at sustainable intensification and diversification of rice-based cropping systems.

Scientist/Senior Scientist, Grain Quality and Nutrition Science & Head of Grain Quality Nutrition Centre
To provide scientific leadership for IRRI’s research on physical, sensory, cooking and nutritional qualities of rice. You will be responsible for implementing this research, including overseeing all staff, analytical services and other resources in IRRI’s Grain Quality Nutrition Center. You will interact with the leaders of other IRRI Programs to ensure full integration of grain quality and nutrition research and analytical services in IRRI’s varietal improvement programs, towards creating product-oriented breeding pipelines that meet the demand of rice farmers, millers, processors and consumers. You are expected to expand IRRI’s research into new areas, including new nutrition and health traits. You will foster closer collaboration with other research groups worldwide, and support capacity building for national agricultural research and extension systems (NARES).

Director, Global Rice Science Partnership (GRiSP)
To provide strategic and operational leadership for the Global Rice Science Partnership (GRiSP, www.grisp.net), a CGIAR Research Program which brings together hundreds of public- and private-sector organizations. GRiSP was launched in November 2010, aligning the rice research activities of three CGIAR centers (IRRI, AfricaRice, CIAT) with those of numerous other international and national R&D partners. GRiSP focuses on innovative, integrated solutions to improve rice-based production systems and their value chains, including basic and applied research on genetic resources, crop improvement, sustainable management practices, postharvest technologies and new rice products, policy research, and extension. As the Director of GRiSP, you will be a dynamic, innovative, highly respected scientific leader who provides strategic guidance, develops effective implementation mechanisms, and builds outstanding teams for implementing GRiSP based on its overall strategy and work plan.
